The Highland Park city manager Jan Lazar,appointed by Gov. Engler has vowed to try to over-ride local democratic control of the city of Highland Park by ruling over the mayor and the city council, both of which have stated opposition to the Rothchild-Wright Group (a company that admits it has never managed water systems itself) taking over the water system. There is also a related proposal being considered for Detroit's waste water treatment system by Synagro. We must stop this move to rob the people of control over their city and their water! Many have lost their water, many have lost their homes because they could not pay their water bills! Thousands of households have been shut off in Highland Park and Detroit. This is a human rights emergency!
At 6pm, the Highland Park City Council will meet to consider the RWG contract. Join us!
