"A unanimous jury found that Humboldt County Sheriffs and the City of Eureka Police used unreasonable force when they applied pepper spray by q-tip to the eyes of peaceful protestors who staged sit-ins in 1997 to protest the cutting of ancient redwoods.
The verdict came late this Thursday afternoon and few details are yet available. Spring Lundberg told KMUD news the Plaintiffs were awarded $1 each, but the city and county will be liable for the considerable attorneys fees accumulated through three full trials.
