While I was over at 10x10, I found this article -- Rape victim demands her 'freedom'. Which is interesting because I was just learning about the Partition of India in 1947, yesterday from a friend. What was particularly disturbing was her story of women lining up at wells, and pushing each other into the well, suicide vs rape and then being a social outcast.
I also recalled the story of Phoolan Devi from a movie I watch a few years ago -- Bandit Queen.
All this rape as a tool of war is just depressing. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
