"As far as I can determine, Italian-Americans are generally not considered an oppressed group, per se. Most have been here for several generations, and many have done reasonably well. There are prominent Italian-Americans in positions of power an wealth. The Italian-American stereotype, which I won't reinforce here by describing it, is not particularly flattering, but that in itself is often treated as a justification to bash us without too much guilt. "
